CLIMATE AND WEATHER

Things I’m Doing to Prepare for the Heat Dome

Lessons I’ve earned the hard way

That can’t be good.

Yesterday I passed a guy jogging on the road.

“Jogging” might be the wrong word. He was sort of shuffling — faster than a walk, but slower than a run.

He didn’t look good. He was probably my age (the wrong side of 50) and his light gray shirt was mostly dark gray because he was drenched in sweat. It wasn’t even 10:00 a.m. yet, but it was muggy and I had the AC in my truck on full blast.

I thought about stopping to ask him if he was okay. But I almost died in a national park and nobody helped me until I called 911, so every man for himself.

Plus it was a busy road and if he went down, somebody would see him.

This is probably a good time to revisit my most-read post, “The California Family That Died Hiking In The Sierra National Forest Were Victims Of A Common Human Flaw”.

People are going to die over the weekend

Hopefully it won’t be me.

As usual in an emergency, I’m freaking out.

Here’s what I’m doing to be as prepared as humanly possible for something I can do nothing about:
