Some People Will Click On Anything

For example, my boss.

I tried to give my boss the benefit of a doubt, I really did. I thought, “Surely he knows better than to click on an email that is obviously, OBVIOUSLY, a virus-laden scam.”

It could not have been more obvious.

No, I’m wrong. The only way it could’ve been more obvious is if the subject line was THIS IS A SCAM EMAIL.

For one thing, it was green.

All of it. All of the words were green. And they were underlined for some reason. The capitalization was questionable, and the only recipient listed was the same guy who purportedly sent it.

It was allegedly from an attorney whose name we’re familiar with, but I don’t think we’ve ever had a case with him and we certainly don’t have a case with him right now.

So why would he send us an email saying SEE ATTACHED PER OUR DISCUSSIONS?

I read that, and I thought about it for a second, and then I got up and power walked into my boss’s office.

ME: “You didn’t click on that attachment, did you?”

MY BOSS: “Yeah, why?”
