So Here’s The Thing About Vocal

Since everybody else is chiming in.

Bitch and moan, bitch and moan.

The internet is the perfect place to complain because there’s nobody to tell you to shut up already. They might say that in the comments, but you don’t actually have to read those or pay attention to them in any way, shape or form. You can actually hide them to “improve your experience”, and voila, gone!

If only real life was like that, ammirite?

I joined Vocal and then left Vocal for all of the usual reasons. No money, no views. (And a weird, clannish community, but I guess that’s a hazard no matter where you go.)

Needless to say, I canceled my membership for about three weeks and then jumped right back on. There’s a reason they don’t change your account status for 30 days when you make rash decisions like, oh, trying to escape.

Everybody keeps focusing on Vocal’s low pay and the sheer impossibility of building a following even if, and it’s a big if, your story is plastered across the home page.

I do not disagree with these particular bitchings (I invented a word there, feel free to use it).

And the challenges? Well, I haven’t won yet, so clearly the system is rigged.
