People Will Never Stop Blowing Up Their Lives For Sex

Smart people can make incredibly stupid choices.

The president of the University of Michigan, Mark Schlissel, was fired last Saturday for having an apparently multi-year affair with a subordinate at the university.

The school’s Board of Regents found that his ‘interactions with the subordinate were inconsistent with promoting the dignity and reputation of the University of Michigan'.

I’m not going to get into whether Schlissel’s termination was “fair” or “ridiculously puritanical given that the world is a burning trash heap of inappropriate behavior.”

I didn’t even know workplace ethics were still a thing.

But the funny part is that last July, Schlissel himself introduced the rules banning sexual relationships between supervisors and subordinates. So I’m okay with him being fired for being a giant hypocrite and general dumbass.
