Once Again, An Innocent Endangered Animal Is Killed Because Humans Are Idiots

When I’m not waking up to stories about shootings, I’m waking up to stories about some animal that’s been euthanized because it somehow “endangered” humans. (By the way, today I woke up to both.)

Funny how the “endangering” is always a direct result of the humans’ actions and not the animal’s.

I probably don’t have to remind you about Harambe, the endangered lowland gorilla that was killed because a (poorly supervised) three-year-old got into his enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Well, Freya the walrus can now complain to Harambe in animal heaven about how stupid humans are.

Freya was a 1,300 pound walrus in Norway that was crushing small boats and jet skis by flopping onto them because she through they were ice floes.

People, of course, had to go see this. Why? I have no idea. You’ve never seen a walrus before? Really? You think it’s amusing that it’s causing damage? Clearly that means its life is at risk.

Anything that inconveniences humans must die.

That should be the world’s motto.

At first, euthanasia was “out of the question.” A month later, Freya was dead…
