THE WEATHER AT CASA POTTER
I’m the Opposite of a Storm Chaser
I’m a storm runner awayer
I didn’t think it was that bad outside.
Sure, it was sprinkling, but the sky was still bright to the east and I had my windows open. Hersh and I had just come home from the park, and I knew something stormy was pumping up from the south, but it hadn’t looked that bad on radar a few minutes ago.
And then every tornado siren in all three villages around me went off.
And then my phone went off. Which was in my hand (of course), so that shaved about ten years off my life.
And then every Amazon device I own (too numerous to count) went off.
(My Apple Watch went off about an hour later. Thanks for trying, I guess.)
I looked at the radar again.
It wasn’t great. Some might even call it really, really bad.
But the vicious red band was headed northwest. If we got in the truck right fucking now and headed east, we might be able to drive around it.
Insane? Possibly.
Exciting? Definitely.
