I Gave My Cell Phone to A Robot

We’ve got a long way to go

I’ve been particularly proud of myself lately for doing things that everybody else does without a second thought.

Like going out in public.

As a young adult, you can’t imagine that one day you’ll pat yourself on the back for exerting the enormous physical and mental effort it will take to go to Walmart. That you’ll have to psyche yourself up like a competitor on Survivor about to fling themselves into the ocean naked.

I was driven to Hellmart by my love of Planet Earth. I needed to recycle several old cell phones and a Google search told me Walmart was the place to go because they have a “kiosk” for just this very thing.

Now, by “kiosk”, I thought it meant a small, free-standing booth containing one human being who would take my phone from me and possibly give me money in return.

I just Googled the word “kiosk” and I’m not wrong.

But no. What Walmart means by “kiosk” is “robot.”

We’re all just going to have to get used to this.

So the guy at the car repair place said — ”
