POLITICAL OPINION
How to Become a Pundit
You sit down at a keyboard and you start typing
Pundit noun: pun·dit ˈpən-dət : A person who gives opinions in an authoritative manner usually through the mass media
I promise I’m not becoming a political pundit. At least, I don’t think I am.
Or maybe it’s just that current events are making us all pundits.
It turns out that my new-ish coworker voted for Trump, and ever curious, I asked some gentle questions as to WHY THE FUCK SHE WOULD DO THAT.
And yes, as exit polls are revealing, she like many Americans said “I was better off four years ago”, meaning during the last Trump administration.
My co-worker is not plugged in to critical thinking. She’s in her 40s with a college education, but she does not read. She watches YouTube videos all day at work. She has one daughter in college and another in high school — girls of childbearing age.
I tried to explain (without raising my voice) that the president does not control food prices. I explained COVID and supply chains and global economic forces.
