Employers Are Lamenting These Three Things
Straight from the homebuilder’s mouth
There are two kinds of people in this world — employers, and the people who work for them.
Usually, these two groups don’t talk to each other. Not real, meaningful conversations that would benefit both.
Tale as old as time.
I exist in a weird middle ground where I don’t actually produce anything, but I get to mingle with the employer class and hear their complaints.
The first two are common sense.
The third — well, Houston, we have a problem.
1. Nobody is learning a trade
When I was growing up, our county had something called a “joint vocational school”.
When tenth grade rolled around, about half of each class suddenly disappeared into buses that arrived early at the high school to take these kids straight to the JVS on the other side of the county.
You basically never saw these kids again. They were technically in your graduating class, but they were just vague names and faces that you wouldn’t recall until you saw their obituary 40 years later.
