Easy Does It: Tips For How Not To Be Overwhelmed By Everything, Everywhere, All The Time

My boss used to pay bills every two months.

(Let that sink in for a minute)

I would watch in horror as he shoved the bills into a drawer, and then he’d eventually drag them all out and put them in a giant pile on this desk.

It would take him an entire morning to pay everything. And don’t even ask about the state of the office bookkeeping.

Of course, I finally took over the bill paying because, dear God, just, no.

He did that because he was overwhelmed by the sheer mechanics of paying all the bills. But shoving them to the side and then trying to kamikaze his way through them was not the answer.

The answer was to pay them at least weekly, as they came, little by little.

Now, of course, the answer is to autopay everything you can possibly autopay. That alone has saved me a lot of brain cells.

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired.

I don’t know if I’m getting old, or it’s having three jobs, or it’s the stress of everything, everywhere, all at once.
